The President of the “Foundation for the Child and the Family”, Mrs Marianna V. Vardinoyannis, was invited as a keynote speaker to the 4th Global Youth Employment Summit on the fight against poverty and unemployment.

The summit was organised in Baku, capital of Azerbaijan, in September 2008, by YES (Youth Employment Summit) in collaboration with the Government of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Youth and Sport.

The summit was held under the auspices of the First Lady of Azerbaijan and UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador, H.E. Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva, as well as of the First Lady of Egypt,

In September 1st to 3rd 2007, about 800 young people from 100 countries, including Greece, participated in the International Youth Forum for Peace organised in Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt, with the initiative of “The Suzanne Mubarak Women’s International Peace Movement” and its President, H.E. Mrs. Suzanne Mubarak. The “Foundation for the Child and the Family” also participated in the Forum.

The International Youth Forum for Peace was entitled as “The Power of Youth for Peace. Youth Speak-We listen”. It was organised for the first time and offered young people around the world the opportunity to engage in a constructive dialogue,

The Charter of Paris against cancer was signed in February 2000 aiming at the promotion of the research for curing as well as preventing the disease, upgrading the provided services to the patients, the sensitisation of the common opinion and the mobilisation of the global community against cancer.

In February 2007, the 7th Anniversary of the Charter of Paris against cancer was celebrated in Paris with the annual fundraising gala at the Palace of Versailles, under the auspices of the President of the French Republic, Mr Jacques Chirac.

The second Roundtable Session entitled: “Building a Protective Environment for Civilians during Armed Conflicts” was an important step towards the protection of civilians during armed conflicts. The workshop was held in January 2007, at the Institute for Peace Studies of Bibliotheca Alexandrina in Egypt, with the initiative of H.E. Mrs Suzanne Mubarak, President of “The Suzanne Mubarak Women’s International Peace Movement”, following the first session, which took place in September 2006 in Paris, on the occasion of the Middle East crisis, specifically in Lebanon. Mrs. Marianna V. Vardinoyannis along with various prominent personalities, who fight for Peace, participated in a workshop of experts with the topic: “Civilians’ security during armed conflicts” which was held in Paris, in September 2006.

This meeting was yet one more initiative of H.E. Mrs Suzanne Mubarak, President of “The Suzanne Mubarak Women’s International Peace Movement” aiming at the investigation of the deficiency of the worldwide peace organisations and international humanistic regulations to adequately protect the civilians as well as finding out efficient solutions towards their empowerment.

Queen Silvia of Sweden, founder and President of the Mentor Foundation, declared their vigorous decision to impede the spread of drugs and their will to protect the children and the young people from the threat of drugs, with their presence in the charity gala of the Mentor Foundation.
