The Charter of Paris against Cancer

The Charter of Paris against cancer was signed in February 2000 aiming at the promotion of the research for curing as well as preventing the disease, upgrading the provided services to the patients, the sensitisation of the common opinion and the mobilisation of the global community against cancer.

In February 2007, the 7th Anniversary of the Charter of Paris against cancer was celebrated in Paris with the annual fundraising gala at the Palace of Versailles, under the auspices of the President of the French Republic, Mr Jacques Chirac.

The event aimed to support the “Association for Life and Hope against Cancer”

2nd Workshop on the Protection of Civilians in Armed Conflicts

The second Roundtable Session entitled: “Building a Protective Environment for Civilians during Armed Conflicts” was an important step towards the protection of civilians during armed conflicts. First workshop on the protection of civilians during armed conflicts in Paris

Mrs. Marianna V. Vardinoyannis along with various prominent personalities, who fight for Peace, participated in a workshop of experts with the topic: “Civilians’ security during armed conflicts” which was held in Paris, in September 2006.

This meeting was yet one more initiative of H.E. Mrs Suzanne Mubarak, President of “The Suzanne Mubarak Women’s International Peace Movement” aiming at the investigation of the deficiency of the worldwide peace organisations and international humanistic regulations to adequately protect the civilians as well as finding out efficient solutions towards their empowerment.

Institute for Peace Studies

The “Suzanne Mubarak Women’s International Peace Movement” launched the first “Institute of Peace Studies” in the Arab region in February 2006 dedicated to the promotion and enhancement of peace.

Hosted by the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, the Institute serves as the academic arm of the Movement developing training and research programs designed to disseminate practical ideas for peace, including its developmental and environmental aspects.

It also focuses on exploring ways and means of expanding the role of women and the young generation in the process of peace building. In realizing its objectives, the Institute will engage in partnerships,
