International Youth Forum for Peace

In September 1st to 3rd 2007, about 800 young people from 100 countries, including Greece, participated in the International Youth Forum for Peace organised in Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt, with the initiative of “The Suzanne Mubarak Women’s International Peace Movement” and its President, H.E. Mrs. Suzanne Mubarak. The “Foundation for the Child and the Family” also participated in the Forum.

The International Youth Forum for Peace was entitled as “The Power of Youth for Peace. Youth Speak-We listen”. It was organised for the first time and offered young people around the world the opportunity to engage in a constructive dialogue,

Makistos will smile again

The fires that tore through Greece, at the end of the summer 2007, cost in human lives and burned thousands of acres of land and hundreds of houses. It destroyed one of the most beautiful sites of Greece, forced thousands of citizens to abandon their villages and homes, and threatened archaeological sites such as Ancient Olympia.

The Charter of Paris against Cancer

The Charter of Paris against cancer was signed in February 2000 aiming at the promotion of the research for curing as well as preventing the disease, upgrading the provided services to the patients, the sensitisation of the common opinion and the mobilisation of the global community against cancer.

In February 2007, the 7th Anniversary of the Charter of Paris against cancer was celebrated in Paris with the annual fundraising gala at the Palace of Versailles, under the auspices of the President of the French Republic, Mr Jacques Chirac.

The event aimed to support the “Association for Life and Hope against Cancer”

2nd Workshop on the Protection of Civilians in Armed Conflicts

The second Roundtable Session entitled: “Building a Protective Environment for Civilians during Armed Conflicts” was an important step towards the protection of civilians during armed conflicts. The workshop was held in January 2007, at the Institute for Peace Studies of Bibliotheca Alexandrina in Egypt, with the initiative of H.E.
