Following an invitation by the First lady of Egypt Suzanne Mubarak, founder and President of the Suzanne Mubarak Women’s International Peace Movement, personalities from all over the world were assembled in May 2005 in Cairo for a great and sacred aim: to help the children of Palestine, the victims of violence and war.
The International Seminar ”Women in the Service of Peace” organized at UNESCO Headquarters on June 2004, on the initiative of H.E. Mrs. Suzanne Mubarak and Mrs. Marianna V. Vardinoyannis, aimed to “highlight the important role that women play in support of peace and the need for them to be recognized as full partners in the processes of decision-making and political negotiations”
The opening of the Jordan River Foundation exhibition entitled Traditional and Contemporary Handicrafts from Jordan was held at the Museum of Cycladic Art in Athens; a unique and representative sample of the art of weaving and handicrafts : carpets, tapestries, table cloths, drapes etc, which reflect the heritage of one of the oldest civilisations of the Middle East.
In a Press Conference that took place in October 2003 in the hotel N.J.V. Athens Plaza, the UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador and member of the Board of Trustees of the Mentor International Foundation, Mrs Marianna V. Vardinoyannis, presented the aim and the work of the Foundation to the journalists and announced the award of the Centre for the Treatment of Substance Dependant People (KETHEA), with the Mentor Award being the first: the Mentor Prevention Achievement Award.
