The Suzanne Mubarak Womens International Peace Movement launched the first Institute of Peace Studies in the Arab region in February 2006 dedicated to the promotion and enhancement of peace.
Hosted by the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, the Institute serves as the academic arm of the Movement developing training and research programs designed to disseminate practical ideas for peace, including its developmental and environmental aspects.
It also focuses on exploring ways and means of expanding the role of women and the young generation in the process of peace building. In realizing its objectives, the Institute will engage in partnerships,
Prominent personalities were present in the World Economic Forum held in Davos, on the 25th till the 29th of January 2006, such as the Secretary General of the United Nations, Mr Kofi Annan, governmental and non-governmental officials, businessmen, as well as Nobel Peace Prize laureates, writers and artists recruited in the fight for the human rights protection the actress Angelina Jolie, UN Goodwill Ambassador, the musician Bono, who is actively involved in the fight against poverty in Africa, and others.

Following an invitation by the First lady of Egypt Suzanne Mubarak, founder and President of the Suzanne Mubarak Women’s International Peace Movement, personalities from all over the world were assembled in May 2005 in Cairo for a great and sacred aim: to help the children of Palestine, the victims of violence and war.
The International Seminar ”Women in the Service of Peace” organized at UNESCO Headquarters on June 2004, on the initiative of H.E. Mrs. Suzanne Mubarak and Mrs. Marianna V. Vardinoyannis, aimed to “highlight the important role that women play in support of peace and the need for them to be recognized as full partners in the processes of decision-making and political negotiations”
