The Foundation’s President and Member of the Academy of Athens, Prof. Gregorios Skalkeas presented Mrs. Vardinoyannis’ work, and among other things he said: “Being in a close co-operation with the Foundation of Mrs Marianna V. Vardinoyannis, we feel the need to express admiration, appreciation and our gratitude as citizens, for her multifarious activity, which has exceeded the Greek boundaries for many years now and it has become world famous …I will not dare to present her substantial curriculum vitae, similar to which I have not met in my long academic life … I will say only that Mrs. Vardinoyannis holds two bachelor degrees in History of Art from the Deree College and Economics from the University of Denver, USA and she is a PhD candidate of Archaeology at the Sheffield University in Great Britain. I will also mention that it is the Founder and President of the “Marianna V. Vardinoyannis Foundation”, Founder and President of the “ELPIDA” Association of Friends of Children with cancer, Founder and President of the Association “ORAMA ELPIDAS” and the Bone Marrow Volunteer Donors Bank… With the affection of her own and her partners’, at the excellent facilities of the Oncology Hospital created to soften the children’s pain and their parents’, a very large percentage of these children are being cured and they become healthy to continue their lives. The efforts made in various ways to relieve these children are remarkable that only one caring mother could achieve for her own children…”
During the ceremony, Mrs. Eugenia Theocharis was also honored for her charity work but also for the great financial assistance offered and continues to offer to BRFAA.
Many people from the Greek academic, scientific and business community, representatives of the Government and the Hellenic Armed Forces attended the event.
