Speak Truth to Power - Greece (2024-25)

The Speak Truth to Power Educational Program is a groundbreaking human rights program of the “Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights” foundation taught to millions of students around the world. The program is based on the book by Kerry Kennedy, daughter of the late Robert F. Kennedy.

The Marianna V. Vardinoyannis Foundation has been implementing the program in Greek schools since 2016, with participation from numerous schools across Greece.

The program is held under the auspices of H.E. the President of the Hellenic Republic Ms. Katerina Sakellaropoulou and is approved by the Greek Ministry of Education. It is not an additional subject in the classroom, but a versatile teaching tool that can be used across all subjects. Its goal is to familiarize students from an early age with the concept of human rights, ensuring that, as future citizens, they contribute to the creation of a better and fairer society.

Participation

More than 100 public and private schools from all over Greece, as well as schools from the diaspora, participate in the program during the academic year 2024-25.

Program Tools

The program’s main tool is a special publication by the Marianna V. Vardinoyannis Foundation, translated into Greek. It includes chapters about significant human rights defenders and exercises for the classroom. This publication is provided to educators free of charge.

Training Seminars

The Foundation organizes Training Seminars in Athens, providing a platform for exchange and networking among educators. These seminars:

  • Inform participants about the latest developments in the program.
  • Invite prominent speakers and representatives from “Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights.”
  • Showcase the work of participating schools.

Program Allies

The STTP-Greece program collaborates with strong allies, such as:

  • Axion Hellas: Helps spread the program to remote areas of Greece.
  • Orama Elpidas Association: Raises awareness in the educational community about the importance of bone marrow donation.
