On 21 December 2016, the presentation of the Scrapbook DELPHIC HIGHLIGHTS took place at the National Museum of Contemporary Art (Fix), with artwork from the collections of the European Cultural Centre of Delphi (ECCD).

The scrapbook was presented by the President of the European Cultural Centre of Delphi, Dean Helene Ahrweiler, and the President of the Marianna V. Vardinoyannis Foundation, Mrs. Marianna V. Vardinoyannis, the Director of the National Museum of Contemporary Art, Ms. Katerina Koskina, the Scrapbook’s curator, art critic Efi Andreadi, and journalist Anna Grimani

Artists in attendance, whose works are housed in the Centre’s Collections, included Costas Tsoclis, Aristide Patsoglou, Georgios Kouvakis, Alexandra Athanassiades, Yiannis Parmakelis, Nikos Navridis, Michalis Manousakis, Nakis Tastsioglou, Apostolos Chantzaras, Venia Dimitrakopoulou, Vana Xenou, Patrizia Molinari, Panagiotis Tanimanidis, Astrid Kokka, Eleni Maligoura, Aggelos Antonopoulos, Sotiris Sorogas, Thodoros.

Likewise, the Director of the European Cultural Centre of Delphi, Professor Paul Kalligas, the President of the Association of Friends of the European Cultural Centre of Delphi Ms. Dimitra K. Filippou, MP for the district of Fokida Mr. Ilias Kostopanagiotou, Parliament Member Sofia Voultepsi, former Minister of Culture Angela Gerekou, Ms. Annie Petrakis, Ms. Marina Theocharakis, Vice President of the B & M. Theocharakis Foundation for the Fine Arts, art critic Takis Mavrotas, Ms. Sophie Koutalidis, Ms. Ino Konstantopoulos, Ms. Ioli Xifara and others.

The European Cultural Centre of Delphi has amassed a significant number of works of art, sculpture, painting, photography, and etchings of exceptional quality, the totality of which has not been made known, nor the wide range of media these represent. Artists such as George Zoggolopoulos, Costas Tsoklis, Takis, Aristide Patsoglou, Yiannis Parmakelis, Lydia Venieri, Michel Gerard, Alfredo Romano, Thodoros Papadimitriou, Kostas Varotsos, Theodoulos Gregoriou, Patrick Reynaud, Jason Molfessis, Manuel Saiz, Patrizia Molinari, Steven Antonakos, Masaaki Noda created site-specific art in area surrounding the Centre in Delphi, where the heart of the Park of Sculpture is being constructed.

Works by important Greek and foreign painters and photographers are housed in the Delphi Center’s collections, such as Alekos Fassianos, Chryssa, Nikos Alexiou, John Christoforou, Yannis Giatis, Vlassis Kaniaris, Chronis Botsoglou, Georgios Kouvakis, Nikos Georgiadis, Yiannis Psychopedis, Danil, Christos Giannakos, Aggelos Antonopoulos, Rob Kesseler, Nikos Navridis, Michalis Michailides, Michael Lekakis, Sarantis Karavouzis, Dimitris Mytaras, Panayiotis Tetsis, Michalis Makroulakis, Stamos, Michalis Manoussakis, Astrid Kokka-Nehrig, Marios Spiliopoulos, Nina Roos, Yiannis Fokas, Giorgos Lazogas, Vana Xenou, Eugenia Apostolou, Alexandra Athanassiades, Venia Dimitrakopoulou, Tassos, Nakis Tastsioglou, John Stathatos, Danae Stratou, Lykourgos Kogevinas, Lela Pascali, Eleni Maligoura, Natassa Markidou, Erieta Attali, Daniel Schwarz and others. Ms. Lucilla Mussini Bombieri’s donation, consisting of 21 works by the Anglo-Greek artist Mayo (Antoine Malliarakis), is significant.

The scrapbook’s two hundred pages will provide readers with the opportunity not only to further their knowledge on the work of influential Greek and foreign artist, but also to become better acquainted with the European Cultural Centre’s rich activity in Athens and Delphi. The collection is a result of art programs on the part of visiting artists to the Centre in Delphi, purchased artwork, and donations by artists and collectors.
