Presentation of the exibition of the Jordan River Foundation with traditional and contemporary crafts of Jordan, unique and representative samples of textile art and crafts-rugs, tapestries, tablecloths, throws, etc. who reflect the heritage of one of the oldest civilizations of the East, which took place at the Museum of Cycladic Art and was organized at the initiative of the “Foundation for the Child and the Family”.
The opening of the Jordan River Foundation exhibition entitled Traditional and Contemporary Handicrafts from Jordan was held at the Museum of Cycladic Art in Athens; a unique and representative sample of the art of weaving and handicrafts : carpets, tapestries, table cloths, drapes etc, which reflect the heritage of one of the oldest civilisations of the Middle East.
In a Press Conference that took place in October 2003 in the hotel N.J.V. Athens Plaza, the UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador and member of the Board of Trustees of the Mentor International Foundation, Mrs Marianna V. Vardinoyannis, presented the aim and the work of the Foundation to the journalists and announced the award of the Centre for the Treatment of Substance Dependant People (KETHEA), with the Mentor Award being the first: the Mentor Prevention Achievement Award.
The exhibition entitled: The Unity of a Unique Monument: the Parthenon was held with the initiative of Mrs. Marianna V. Vardinoyannis, on April 2003, in Paris. It was an event of great cultural and national importance since it was the first time that such an important international organization, like UNESCO, highlighted this important issue for Greeks and the whole modern civilization, which is the unification of the Parthenon sculptures and the cultural importance of the Parthenon as a whole.
The Foundation for the Child and the Family in cooperation with the ”Fondation pour l’ enfance” (France) organized the Second European Meeting of Legal Practitioners in relation to Juvenile Justice in Athens, in March 2003. The first meeting was held by the Fondation pour lEnfance in November 2000, in Paris.
The aim of the Second Meeting which was held under the auspices of the Greek Ministry of Justice and with financial support from the GROTIUS-II Programme of the European Commission, was the protection of minors from the childrens pornography on the Internet and the sexual exploitation for commercial purposes,
Presentation of the exibition of women artists from the Islamic world entitled “Lever le Voile”, held at the initiative of the Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO, Mrs. Marianna V. Vardinoyannis in March 2003 at the headquarters of UNESCO in Paris and was dedicated to women-fighters , women-mothers, women-creators.
World heritage, both cultural and natural, is our legacy from the past, what we live with today, and what we pass on to future generations. Irrespective of where and when the magnificent cultural monuments have been created and the beauties of nature are located, they are a source of life and inspiration which belong to all the people in the world.
