A loving embrace for the children who need care, safety, and protection, above all else, during these trying times, was offered by the ‘Marianna V. Vardinoyannis Foundation’ and the ‘ELPIDA – Association of Friends of Children with Cancer’, which offered their support to five Institutions of Attica.

The ‘Marianna V. Vardinoyannis’ Foundation and the ELPIDA Association of Friends of Children with Cancer remain on the front lines with assistance and solidarity, supporting vulnerable groups hit hard by the pandemic.

Immediately following the announcement of the outbreak and the decision to quarantine the residents of Ermioni, Marianna V. Vardinoyannis, showing her genuine interest and practical support, hastened to help her home town by sending large quantities of medical supplies, food and necessities to her fellow townspeople.

EMOTIONAL ACCEPTANCE AT THE HOLY METROPOLIS OF PIRAEUS OF THE OFFER BY THE ‘MARIANNA V. VARDINOYANNIS FOUNDATION’ AND ‘ELPIDA’

The Holy Metropolis of Piraeus accepted the offer of the ‘Marianna V. Vardinoyannis Foundation’ and the ‘Elpida – Association of Friends of Children with Cancer’, which provided care packages for families in need and the elderly.  The packages were delivered on Holy Wednesday, 15 April 2020, and contained food for a traditional Easter meal and necessities, which were supplied by fellow citizens through the Parish Benevolent Fund of the local Church.

THE LOVING EMBRACE OF THE ‘MARIANNA V. VARDINOYANNIS FOUNDATION AND ‘ELPIDA’ EXTENDS TO CRETE

The ‘Marianna V. Vardinoyannis’ Foundation and ‘ELPIDA’ have opened a loving embrace for all of Greece to support our fellow human beings hit hardest by the Covid-19 health crisis.  This time, their solidarity and support reached Crete, and specifically the Holy Metropolis of Lambi, Syvritos and Sfakia.

The packages, which will go to our economically vulnerable, needy and isolated fellow human beings in 85 villages in the Agios Vasilios and Amari region, were delivered on Holy Tuesday, 14 April 2020.

The charity packages were accompanied by warm words from the heart of Marianna V.

The ‘Marianna V. Vardinoyannis’ Foundation and the ‘ELPIDA-Association of Friends of Children with Cancer’ will be supporting families in need which are under the care and protection of the Holy Metropolis of Fthiotida with care packages this Easter.

After the decision of the President of the Honorary Committee of the ‘Thermopylae – Salamis 2020’ Anniversary Mrs Marianna V. Vardinoyannis, all the funds of the ‘Marianna V. Vardinoyannis’ Foundation that had been budgeted for the celebrations of the Anniversary will be disposed to support our fellow people who have been struck most by the Coronavirus pandemic.

AN EMBRACE OF LOVE FOR OUR FELLOW PEOPLE IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF KIFISSIA WHO ARE IN NEED

The ‘Marianna V. Vardinoyannis’ Foundation and the ‘ELPIDA Association of Friends of Children with Cancer’ opened an embrace of love and support for our fellow human beings who belong to vulnerable groups (the needy) and have been hit hardest by the coronavirus pandemic.

On the initiative of President Marianna V. Vardinoyannis, and ahead of the Easter holidays, 450 packages of food were delivered on Holy Tuesday, 14 April 2020, to the Municipality of Kifissia, to be distributed to vulnerable (needy) families that have been hit by the health and economic crisis.

On the initiative of President Marianna V. Vardinoyannis, food and necessities were delivered to the Community Grocery Store of the Municipality of Salamina on Monday, 13 April 2020.

ONGOING SUPPORT FOR VULNERABLE GROUPS FROM THE ‘MARIANNA V. VARDINOYANNIS FOUNDATION’ AND THE ‘ELPIDA’ ASSOCIATION: HOMELESS SHELTERS OF THE UNESCO CLUB OF THE DEPARTMENT OF PIRAEUS AND ISLANDS

The ELPIDA Association of Friends of Children with Cancer and the Marianna V. Vardinoyannis Foundation are providing ongoing support – through a number of actions – for our fellow human beings suffering greater hardship from the coronavirus pandemic.

On Friday, 10 April 2020, at the initiative of President Marianna V. Vardinoyannis, yet another delivery of food and necessities was made to the Social Shelters in Piraeus and Nikaia of the UNESCO Club of the Department of Piraeus and Islands, in support of homeless persons and needy families.

Vardinoyannis, on Tuesday, 7 April, food was delivered to the Holy Metropolis of Nicaea, which supports 3,000 destitute families from seven Municipalities of Attica who are registered with the Welfare Department of the Metropolis of Nicaea and, due to the coronavirus crisis,

“The many and the few: multitude and virtue”. A special event on the occasion of the “Thermopylae – Salamis 2020” Anniversary Year

A special event was held on occasion of the “Thermopylae – Salamis 2020” Anniversary Year, at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, under the auspices of his Excellency the President of the Hellenic Republic, Mr Prokopis Pavlopoulos, titled “The many and the few: multitude and virtue”. A focal point of the battles between the Persian Empire of King Xerxes and the Greek City-States during the Persian wars was the great disproportion in numbers which was effectively overcome. The victory of the Greek cities paved the way for the Golden Age of Athens, thus allowing ancient Greek philosophy and art to become the foundation of Western Civilisation.
