UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador, Mrs. Marianna V. Vardinoyannis, attended the annual charity dinner organised by the international non-profit organisation “Global Hope Coalition”, on the margins of the 73rd United Nations General Assembly, on Thursday 27 September 2018.

At this special event, organised with the cooperation of the United Nations Office of Counter Terrorism, and centered on peace and the creation of a better world, leaders and activists from all over the world, received awards for their contribution to dialogue and cooperation between peoples.

MARIANNA V. VARDINOYANNIS AT THE ANNUAL “APPEAL OF CONSCIENCE FOUNDATION” AWARDS

UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Mrs. Marianna V. Vardinoyannis attended the “summit meeting” of the global elite at the annual awards ceremony of the “Appeal of Conscience” Foundation in New York on Wednesday 26 September 2018.

At the event, which brings together Presidents of countries, Ministers, heads of international organizations, and powerful businessmen from all over the world, important personalities are given awards each year for their contribution to establishing peace and defending the freedom of religion.

INTERNATIONAL CONTACTS OF UNESCO GOODWILL AMBASSADOR MARIANNA V. VARDINOYANNIS IN NEW YORK

UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Mrs. Marianna V. Vardinoyannis made important international contacts and attended meetings centred around social contribution and solidarity, within the framework of her visit to New York, in the margins of the 73rd UN General Assembly, on Tuesday, 25 September 2018.

PARTICIPATION OF MARIANNA V. VARDINOYANNIS AT THE CONCORDIA SUMMIT

On Monday, 24 September, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Mrs Marianna V. Vardinoyannis participated in the proceedings of the annual “Concordia Summit” held in New York.

Heads of state and government from around the world, heads of international organizations, as well as business executives participate in the Summit, which is held every year in New York, at the same time as the 73rd UN General Assembly.

Present on the first day of the Summit were, among others, daughter and advisor to the President of the United States Mrs.

The meaning of our national identity and the challenges Greek society faces inside a complex international environment were the topics of reflection of the important thinkers, academics but also athletes who took part in the one-day Conference called “Greece in the Modern World: National Identity and the Challenges of the 21st Century”, organised by the Marianna V. Vardinoyannis Foundation in cooperation with the Panhellenic Women’s Organisation “Panathinaiki”, under the auspices of His Excellency the President of the Republic, Prokopis Pavlopoulos, on Thursday 21 June, at the Amphitheatre of the Acropolis Museum.

VISIT TO THE LYREIO CHILDREN’S INSTITUTION

Through a highly symbolic visit on Tuesday 21 August to the Lyreio Children’s Institution, which was completely destroyed by the recent deadly fires in Eastern Attica, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Mrs. Marianna V. Vardinoyannis confirmed her personal commitment, as well as that of her family, to support, in every possible way, the victims and the areas devastated by fire.

On her visit, Mrs Vardinoyannis was accompanied by the wife of the President of the Republic, Mrs. Sissy Pavlopoulou, who also showed, from the very first moment, her interest in restoring the damage suffered by the Lyreio Institution.

“1st MARIANNA V. VARDINOYANNIS CULTURAL AWARDS” BY THE MUNICIPALITY OF ERMIONIDA

At a modest but symbolic ceremony at the Town Hall of Ermioni, and in the presence of the President of the Republic, Mr. Prokopios Pavlopoulos, the first “Marianna V. Vardinoyannis Cultural Awards” were awarded on Saturday, 4 August 2018.

The Hellenic Initiative is pleased to announce that Mrs. Marianna V. Vardinoyannis has joined the organization’s Board of Directors serving also on its Executive Committee. The longstanding commitment of Mrs. Vardinoyannis to enhance and change the lives of those in need through the “ELPIDA” Association of Friends of Children with cancer and through the Bone Marrow Donor Registry “ORAMA ELPIDAS”, presents a profoundly inspiring initiative, demonstrating that through determination and power of will there are no limits to what philanthropy can achieve.
